Oxidil injection contains antibiotic ceftriaxone in it which is indicated for a vast variety of bacterial infections in children, neonates & adults. It is used in bacterial meningitis (inflammation of meninges), sepsis (life threatening condition), intra-abdominal infections, acute otitis media (inflammatory disease of middle ear), bone & joint infections, complicated UTI (urinary tract infections), skin and skin structure infections & sexually transmitted diseases (gonorrhea, syphilis). It can also be used in infection reduction before surgery & for management of decreased number of neutrophil & fever caused due to bacterial infection.
This medication is not meant for infections caused by virus like common cold. It belongs to cephalosporin class of antibiotics which acts by weakening the outermost bacterial layer and causes breakdown of bacterial cell.
