Indications
Carbimazole is used in the treatment of thyrotoxicosis (excessive thyroid hormone in the body).

Its side effects are rashes, nausea, headache, GI upset, liver disorders, skin reactions, arthralgia (joint pain), and decreased bone marrow activity.

Precautions
Caution is adviced in the following conditions: Patients are advised to inform their doctors about the development of any sore throats, mouth ulcers, bruising, fever, malaise (muscle pain), or if any similar illness results. Those with mild to moderate liver impairment, intrathoracic goiter (changing of thyroid gland position), and elderly patients are advised to observe caution.
Contraindications
use is prohibited in tracheal obstruction (throat blockage), severe blood disorders, and severe liver impairment.
