Primary Uses
Indications
This drug is used to treat indigestion, flatulence, regurgitation of bile, heartburn and other symptoms of upper GI tract. It can also be used to treat nausea and vomiting due to a number of conditions such as, gastro-intestinal disorders, intolerance to cytotoxic drugs, congestive heart failure, post-operative conditions, and deep X-ray or cobalt therapy.
Side Effects
This drug can cause extrapyramidal reactions (movement disorders), neuroleptic mallignant syndrome, raised serum prolactin leading to discharge from nipple, irregular periods, and development of breasts in men. This drug can also lead to drowsiness, diarrhea, rash, dizziness, tremors and agitation.

Pregnancy
There is no evidence of risk in humans. However, consult your physician for better advice.
Lactation
Caution is advised with this drug in lactation women. Consult your physican for better advice.
Precautions
This drug should be used with caution in kidney and liver impairment, porphyria, Parkinson’s disease, atopy, sick sinus syndrome, and other cardiac disturbances.
Contraindications
This drug is not to be given in patients with recent GI surgery, GI obstruction, perforation or hemorrhage, prolactin-dependent breast carcinoma, pheochromocytoma, and epilepsy. It is also advised not to use this drug in neonates.

Side Effects:
The patients administered with this medicine may experience neuroleptic malignant syndrome (medicine causing psychotic effects such as confusion, fever, etc.), raised prolactin levels leading to galactorrhea (abnormal milky nipple discharge), irregular periods, gynecomastia (breast enlargements in males), drowsiness, tremors, and rash.
Effects on pregnancy and lactation:
This medicine can be used by pregnant females. However, please consult your doctor before use. The effects of this medicine are undetermined; therefore, caution is advised.
Contraindications:
The patients with history of recent gastrointestinal surgery, gastrointestinal obstructions, perforation or hemorrhages, prolactin-dependent breast carcinoma (breast cancer), pheochromocytoma (adrenal gland tumor), epilepsy (disorder characterized by seizures).
