Primary Uses
Indications
This medication is used to treat anxiety states, used as an adjunct with resistant epilepsy (fits).
Side Effects
Patients using this medication may experience occasional tiredness, dryness of mouth, constipation, reduction of appetite, nausea, dizziness, fine tremor (rapid movement) of the fingers. Fatigue, drowsiness, GI upset, aggression, anorexia (eating disorder), attention disturbances, agitation (fear of open spaces), confusion, speech disturbances, weight gain, anterograde amnesia, respiratory depression, loss of sexual drive, visual disorders, tolerance, dependence, and suicidal thoughts are also some of the side effects.
Warnings
Pregnancy
This medication is contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation
This medication is contraindicated during lactation; therefore, consult your healthcare provider before use.
Precautions
Patients should be cautious if they have acute respiratory insufficiency (lung diseases), Spinal or cerebellar ataxia (disease of the nervous system), amnesia (memory loss), renal (kidney) impairment, mild to moderate hepatic (liver) impairment, depression, personality disorder. Avoid long term use in the elderly and withdraw slowly. Do monitor for suicidal thoughts or behaviors and skin reactions.
Contraindications
This medication should not be used in patients who have hypersensitivity to clobazam, myasthenia gravis (an autoimmune disorder of the neurons), severe respiratory insufficiency (lung dysfunction), sleep apnea (a sleep disorder), history of drug or alcohol dependence, or severe hepatic (liver) impairment.

In adults the recommended dosage is 20-30mg per day

In adults the recommended dosage is 5-15 mg per day and then increased up to 80 mg.

No, this medication is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
