Indications:
Oral: Used for treating epilepsy and for the prevention of migraine. Injection: For patients temporarily unable to take valproate.
Administration:
This medicine is used orally or intravenously. The injectable form is injected into a vein by a medical professional. However, if you are self-injecting or doing it at home, ensure that you follow the correct procedure and all relevant precautions. The dose is dependent on the age, condition and its severity. The lowest oral dose should be used for the elderly.
Storage:
Please store the oral form of this medicine at room temperature (18-25 Celsius). Please keep away from excessive light, moisture, and children. Please read the leaflet provided with the medicine for further storage guidance.
Precautions:
Women of childbearing age, perform liver function tests periodically, perfume blood tests before therapy, patients with renal (kidney) impairment, diabetes.
Side Effects:
You may experience gastrointestinal disturbances, hair loss, swelling, bone-marrow failure, liver injury, confusion, weight changes, disturbed attention.
Contraindications:
Patients with liver disease, pancreatitis (infection on pancreas), sun-sensitivity.
Effects on pregnancy and lactation:
Please only use during pregnancy if no safer alternate is available. Not recommended during lactation.
