Primary Uses
Indications
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in lungs) to improve exercise capacity and symptoms in patients with grad II and grade III functional status. Systemic sclerosis (autoimmune disease of connective tissue) with ongoing digital ulcer disease (sores on fingers or toes) to reduce the number of new ulcers.
Side Effects
Headches, flushing, abnormal hepatic function, anemia, infected skin ulcer, urinary tract infections, dyspnoea, GI upset, erythema, dermatitis, pain in extremity, back pain, peripheral edema, hepatic (liver) disorders

Precautions
Severe pulmonary arterial hypertension, raised liver enzymes (monitor levels). Advise patients to report any signs suggestive of liver damage. Monitor hemoglobin levels and signs of fluid retension. Women of child bearing potential should use non-hormonal contraception during treatment. Perform monthly pregnancy tests. Withdraw gradually.
Contraindications
Moderate to severe hepatic impairment (liver failure)
