Multiple sclerosis
Indications
This medicine is used in patients with a single demyelinating event (nerve disorder) with an active inflammatory process severe enough to require IV corticosteroids if alternative diagnosis have been excluded and they are at high risk of developing multiple sclerosis (disease of the brain and spinal cord).
Side Effects
This medicine is known to produce sideffects which include: Flu like symptoms, localized injection site reactions, necrosis (tissue death), stomach upset.
Warnings
Pregnancy
Research suggests that this medicine should be avoided by pregnant women.
Lactation
This medicine is not recommended for women who are breastfeeding.
Precautions
The treatment must be started only under the supervision of a clinician experienced in the disease.
Contraindications
It is not recommended in patients who have a history of severe depression or suicidal thoughts and decompensated (detoriated function) liver disease.
