Breast Cancer
Indications
This medication is used in the treatment of advanced breast cancer of post-menopausal women whose disease has progressed following the use of anti-estrogens.
Side Effects
The side effects of this medication are as follows: hot flushes (temporary facial reddening), sweating, vaginal irritation, hair thinning, GI (gastrointestinal) disturbance, asthenia (muscle pain), somnolence (sleepiness), headache, rash, alopecia (hair fall in small patches), anorexia (an eating disorder), sensory disturbance, musculoskeletal pain, osteoporosis (fragile bones), raised liver enzymes, hypercholesterolemia (increased cholesterol in the body), and vaginal bleeding.
Warnings
Pregnancy
This medicine is used in pregnancy only if no safe alternative is available and strictly under the supervision of a doctor.
Lactation
Due to its undetermined effect in nursing females, caution is advised.
Driving
Please avoid driving when taking this medicine as it may affect your ability to drive.
Precautions
Those with kidney or liver impairments are advised to stay cautious. Regular monitoring of bone mineral density levels (BMD) should be done to avoid chances of osteoporosis
