Indications
This medicine is used to manage the pain in rheumatoid arthritis (a joint disease caused by an individuals immune system)
Side Effects
This medicine may cause increased blood pressure, stomach upset, oral disorders, stomach pain, altered liver function, leucopenia (reduced white blood cells), tenosynovitis (inflammation around tendon), headcahe, dizziness, asthenia (weakness), paraesthesia (abnormal sensation), weight loss, allergy, hairloss and dry skin Rarely severe hepatotoxicity (liver toxicity), Stevens-Johnson syndrome (skin disorder), epidermal necrolysis (skin disorder) and erythema multiforme (mucocutaneous autoimmune diseases)

Precautions
There is a risk of hepatotoxicity (liver damage caused by chemicals) , monitor ALT levels (indicates liver damage) before treatment and every 2 weeks for 6 months during treatment Washout and withdraw in case of elevation of liver enzymes till they return to normal A differential blood count must also be taken before and during treatment and washout procedure performed in case of toxicity, switching to another DMARD or planning a pregnancy Monitor the BP and report any signs of infection to a doctor immediately
Contraindications
This medicine should not be used by patients of severe Immunodeficiency (weak immune system), Bone marrow dysfunction, blood dyscrasias (diseases of blood), Hepatic (liver) and Renal (kidney) insufficiency, ulcerative stomatitis (ulcers in mouth), hypoproteinemia (low protein level in blood) Contraception must be used by both men and women during and till 2 years after use of drug

Storage:

Side Effects:
The patients administered with this medicine may experience high blood pressure, gastrointestinal disturbances, mouth-related disorders, altered liver function, leucopenia (a reduction in the number of white cells in the blood), tenosynovitis (inflammation and swelling of a tendon), weight loss, asthenia (weakness), hair loss, skin adverse reactions, severe infections, pustular psoriasis (skin disorder), and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (medicine associated adverse reactions).
Precautions:
The patients with risk of hepatotoxicity (liver dysfunction) should use this medicine cautiously. During use of this medicine, please monitor ALT (liver enzyme) levels before treatment and every two weeks for 6 months; then every 8 weeks, perform complete blood count tests before and during treatment periodically, monitor blood pressure, and correct any abnormal liver enzyme levels that may be present, and withdraw the medicine if required.
Effects on pregnancy and lactation:
This medicine is not recommended for pregnant females. This medicine is not recommended for nursing females.
Administration:
This medicine is mostly taken orally. The dosage is dependent on the age, condition and its severity. Please consult your doctor before using this medicine. This medicine is not recommended for children.
Contraindications:
The patients with severe immunodeficiency (decreased anemia), bone marrow dysfunction, blood dyscrasias (blood disorder), serious infections, hepatic (liver) and moderate to severe renal (kidney) impairment, severe hyponatremia (decreased sodium levels), and ulcerative stomatitis (inflammation of mouth). The patients, females and males, should use contraception during and 2 years after use or until medicine blood levels are normal.
