Primary Uses
Indications
Gemifloxacin which belongs to the quinolone class of antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the multiplication of bacteria within the body. It is used to treat various bacterial infections such as pneumonia (respiratory bacterial infection), prostatitis (inflammation of prostate gland), pyelonephritis (inflammation of kidney tubules), cystitis (inflammation of bladder), bronchitis (inflammation of lining of airway passages), gonococcal infection (sexually transmitted bacterial infection), plague etc.
Side Effects
It may cause the following:
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- joint pain
- fever
- joint pain
- muscle pain or allergic reactions such as hives
- breathing difficulty
- swelling of lips and tongue
Warnings
Pregnancy
Pregnant females should not use this medicine.
Lactation
Lactating females should not use this medicine.
Precautions
Make sure the quality seal is intact before the use of this medicine. Do not use it after the date of expiry. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. In case of any allergic reaction or worsening of symptoms discontinue its use and consult your doctor immediately. In case of missing a dose, take the skipped dose as soon as you remember it unless it is the time for your next dose. Do not double the dose in order to compensate for the missed dose. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Do not break it in half.
